They give you a short trial period and if you don't cancel you're locked in to a year contract. Very shady business practices. Stay away. They couldn't even get my site to work, so I never used them, and are stuck paying for a year. I went with Interserver.net and am very satisfied with their Windows hosting, and it's much cheaper

Pricing is decent, but this is not a good company to do business with. Customer service is horrible. If I'm not passed around multiple times and hung up on, I never get a clear answer on anything, and the people are rude and condescending. Not to mention the IONOS dashboard has flaws. I'm moving to BlueHost as soon as possible.

I would like to tell about my sad experience in dealing with this company. Having recently emigrated to the United States from another country, I needed hosting services for my business. The prices that IONOS offered looked quite tempting. While agreeing to the terms of the contract, I didn't notice - it is the main thing, I had just arrived in the country and wasn't so cautious yet - that besides the principal contract of hosting, the company added one more contract for services I didn't need: rankingCoach Advanced, some totally useless service for me.

Being a legal immigrant, new to the U.S., I thought everything here was designed to be business-friendly, at least online. You can only imagine my disappointment when I finally saw what the charges were for this unwanted, imposed service. I further learned that canceling requires jumping through many hoops: repeatedly confirming "yes, I want to cancel," and finally I had to make a call. In the country I left, where people suffer from political repression, ironically, the digital sphere is great. One can cancel any service they don't need with one click and one confirmation in a pop-up window – and that's all. No unnecessary hassle. Yet here, a leading tech company is showing the worst examples. But that's not all.

It just happened to be that the terms of the contract for this forced service included a one-year subscription, and I can’t cancel it until the year is up. Seriously? Why not a 10-year subscription? It must be so convenient to milk a customer for 10 years. Now, I don’t want to address IONOS directly. These folks will answer something like, "We’re sorry to hear about your negative experience, and we regret your disappointment. We strive to provide clear information about our terms, and we apologize." A standard response, which is a pity because it does not make the company any better. A pity they don’t understand this.

I'd like to ask the question from the Americans: You fight for your rights, for the freedom to speak your mind, to bear arms, and to express yourselves. But why don't you do nothing against companies that blatantly take advantage of you with contracts for services not used? What is the tradition of imposing annual contracts and conning money out of customers for doing nothing? Why don't you put an end to such irresponsible business? Of course, it is not a single case but an entire system that spreads over the various industries; you are very much aware of that fact.

In the case of IONOS, there is no operational cost that they would incur if they cancelled my contract on the same day that I requested cancellation. There is nothing that this contract initiates that justifies one year's pay. It's purely a digital exercise that extra manpower does not need, nor energy or logistics. It's just about making extra money. What a pity the company doesn't try to be the leader by showing respect to their customers. That could make them stand distinguished as leaders among others. But no, according to the number of negative reviews I read, there doesn't appear to be management at a company level that seems to be working towards some long-term goals. I am sure that if this doesn't change, this company will slowly but surely dwindle and fade into nothingness.

A primeira empresa que cobra pelos serviços sem fazer o cadastro do cliente e o checkout da venda e, ainda, não entrega o serviço contratado.
Os atendentes parecem treinados e orientados a não resolver os problemas.

I can't believe such an arrogant company still exists in 2024. They claim to offer responsive and considerate service, but it's worthless if you're outside the UK. They'll judge you based on the country you lived now, LMAO.

I have no direct business with this corporation, but one of my partners did. They outright refused to assist me simply because I'm a 'foreigner.' No transactions, just a simple procedural matter, and they still failed miserably, for several times.

If you're looking to waste your time, definitely give their so-called service a try.

PS: If you are scammed by the free domain stuff, it's actually fake.

UPDATE: Not solved. I sent the email but no body responded. Don’t trust them.

I am here to tell the same story plenty of these reviews also tell: IONOS is a scam. The company exists & even has garbage-software you can access after your purchase, but they lock you into manipulative contracts even after cancelation, & make it nigh unto impossible to get out. I have spent multiple phone calls, several hours total, & slews of emails trying to prevent charges on my card. After threatening claims to the BBB, reporting them as fraud to my bank, & threatening legal action, they finally "as a one-time courtesy" have supposedly canceled their deceptive contract. When you cancel online, you then have to call to confirm the cancelation: good luck getting any results. Thereafter, multiple representatives call to offer you services. We shall see if I have to dispute future, surprise charges. It wouldn't lt surprise me; AVOID IONOS.

Please don't bother arguing with them. They will continue to lie, move the needle, and lie again. File complaints against them with ICANN, the Pennsylvania Attorney General, your state's Attorney General, and the FCC. I paid them for all domains upon transfer in and they've stolen two of them and tried to tell me they are expired, which they are not all the while trying to INVOICE ME AGAIN FOR THEM. They are also lying about ICANN's regulations that state that whatever time you have left on a domain from a previous registrar follows your domain to the new registrar after you pay the new registrar for 1 year of service. They are liars, all of them. They are rude, ignorant, and slimy. Take the to the authorities who will investigate them and shut them down so that they stop abusing consumers and consumer protection laws.

ALERT! Ionos Inc. is dishonest, unethical and bordering on fraudulent. You can only cancel your service by calling customer service. Whether they actually cancel you or not, is up to them.

I cancelled a year ago, received a letter from a collections agency this week. Called Ionos Customer Service, they claim I did not cancel. So, Canceled again, then immediately called back to see if I was really canceled. They had no record of my cancellation. I stayed on the line, until they sent me an email verifying my cancellation. Still not convinced they will honor my cancellation.

Dishonest business practices-- use a competitor.
