Where do I even begin. I was so excited to try the Dubai Chocolate Donut that I convinced a buddy of mine to go with me to try them. We woke up early and drove an hour to get to this place, with an arrival time of around 8:20am. When I asked the cashier for the Dubai donut, he told me that they don’t have any ready yet and that they would be ready by 9am. This was a crushing blow, but I convinced my friend that we had come this far, we might as well order some other items and just wait for 9am, which is what we did. I ordered a bacon/egg/cheese kolache, a ham/cheese kolache, and I attempted to order a Bavarian filled bar, but the cashier gave me a regular Bavarian filled instead, even though we had just been discussing the filled bars. I noticed the error after I paid, and when I mentioned it, he got flustered and started flailing around with the cash register to figure out how to charge me the price difference for the filled bar. After a minute of waiting I was just like screw it, I’ll stick with the regular Bavarian filled instead. Both kolaches were mid, barely filled and not very tasty. The Bavarian donut clearly was not fresh, and wasn’t particularly well filled.

After eating our first round of food, my buddy and I went for a walk down 436 until 9am, hopeful we would soon be getting fresh Dubai donuts that would totally make the trip worth it. Upon walking back to the register, the cashier (and the manager next to him) told me they now weren’t going to be ready until 9:20am. WTF! We just waited over a half hour, now we have to wait another 20 minutes! So, back to 436 for another wait walk. We return again at 9:20 and it’s clear that they still aren’t ready, so we just sit at a table and wait. At 9:35am I am presented with the cup of slop you see in my photo. Confused, I asked where my Dubai donuts are, and the manager tells me “oh, we aren’t doing the donuts today, today we have the Dubai cup of donut holes.” WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THAT BEFORE NOW?! I kept saying over and over again that I wanted Dubai chocolate donuts, never once did I say I wanted a cup of, like, 5 donut holes floating in a gallon of runny pistachio cream. How no one even thought to mention this to me over the HOUR AND 15 MINUTES that I was there is beyond me. Needless to say that the Dubai donut cup was a letdown, visually and enjoyment-wise. So, overall my experience here was awful, from the confused and useless staff, to the cheap, poorly-filled kolaches, to the not-fresh donuts, to having to wait over an hour to receive something that I didn’t even order, I’m pretty sure this will be my only trip to Shipley’s. No clue how this place is expanding to new states when it’s literally no better than Dunkin.

Edit (reply to owner): Good, I hope you remember me forever. Never once did I refer to you or your staff as "rude or nasty" but I can still use the words I used to describe them because they are accurate. Maybe instead of defending their confusion and lack of communication skills, you should do a better job of training them so they wouldn't have to be confused when taking care of simple requests.

And I see you're not interested at all in addressing any of your business' shortcomings and downright failures, which is your right, but doesn't make you look very good. I "choose kindness" when kindness is warranted. None is warranted for you, your staff, or your business after the experience I had. You certainly didn't "choose kindness" in your reply to me. I won't be sad when you go out of business.

I have to say how pleased I was with these two ladies that greeted me as I walked in the building. The amount of character that they portrayed was exceptionally well. I love Shipley’s always have since 2008 when I went to Houston when I found Shipley’s in Jacksonville and Orlando, it made my heart so happy I will say and I’m sorry, but this facility has way more than the one in Jacksonville and I hate to be rude because I love all of the people up in Jacksonville. They are so nice and sweet, but they just have more to offer in Orlando, especially with the hats and the shirts and the cups. I am so excited about going back. Thank you for such a great morning.

No, I'm not sharing. Go get your own!!! And yes, let me tell you, again, go get your own!! Don't miss out, if you know, what a quality donut should be like? If you want your donut to taste as outrageous as it looks. If you want donut holes that will curl your toes (don't act like you don't know what that's all about), check out their daily featured flavor of donut holes bliss! Fillings in the Jelly donut type... you have yet to experience, unless, of course, you are of the same mindset as i... give them a try. From the moment I stepped inside. I knew I was in trouble...and that does not happen in any run of the mill donut shop! It's clean inside, cute, and the service comes w a smile.
I may not go back for a while, but I'll be back!. I just hope everyone goes once in a while and makes this place a huge success. And it makes your taste buds very happy.

Fantastic experience. We are swinging back through the drive through later on to take some more doughnuts back with us. The kolaches are amazing. It was a big super soft dinner roll with a hot sausage, cheese & Jalapeño. Was just a little spicy, but I loved it. Super clean & quiet location. Will be back!

The strawberry iced donut was amazing and the maple bacon was twice as big as we expected. A few small tables inside, which worked great for us. If you have a large group it would be hard to find seating for everyone. Quick service. Delicious food. Was able to order right away!

Unless you have been in TX, you likely haven’t heard of Shipley’s or even Kolaches. It’s great they are finally in FL, hopefully more locations coming soon. Don’t pass up a chance to check out Shipley’s. The kolaches are excellent, if not a little different than what you get in TX. But the donuts are all delicious and the variety is far better than a typical donut shop.

Definitely try a sausage and cheese jalapeno kolache!

Drove 65 Mins to this place and the staff was cool. The donuts tasted different than the one I went to in TX.

The glaze and frosting is not as sweet as other shops which is what I love the most.
I got a maple glaze, raspberry filled glaze and cake donut. The cake donut was way too dense. So was the maple. I prefer airy donuts.

So happy you all opened in Florida. Donuts & Kolache were great. The staff is super nice and the shop is super clean. Please dont ever leave 😭
